◊Exercise 6. Read the dialogue. Learn it. Act out the dialogue:

The Hat in the Window

Assistant: The small one for three pounds?

Miss Brothers: No. Not that one either. That one over there. The leather one.

Miss Brothers: I’d rather have the one in the window. It goes with my clothes.

Unite 10. The Sound [p]

The sound [p] occurs in word initial, word medial and word final positions. [p] is spelt «p» as in pin, pane, capable, lip. Definition. [p] is occlusive, plosive, bilabial, strong, voiceless. Articulation. 1. The lips are firmly kept together. 2. The soft palate is raised and the air coming into the mouth stops for some time and then breaks the obstruction with a slight explosion. 3. The vocal cords do not vibrate when [p] is produced. 4. The breath effort is very strong for [p].
