7) Translations distinguished according to the fullness and the way of the source text content rendering:

full (complete) translation – translation which conveys the source text content without any omissions or abbreviations;

partial translation – translation which conveys the source text content with omissions and abbreviations;

abbreviated translation – translation which conveys the source text content in an abbreviated way;

fragmentary translation – translation not of the whole text but of an extract or extracts;

aspect translation – translation of the part of a text in the given aspect:

abstract translation – translation which reflects only the topic, the subject and the purpose of the source text;

referential translation – translation which contains relatively detailed information from the source text– its purpose, topic, research techniques and outcome.

8) Translations performed on the basis of the main pragmatic function:

practical translation – translation aimed at supplying information for practical use;

informative translation – non-edited translation which may be practically used but is not for publishing;

consultative translation – subtype of informative translation usually orally performed in the customer's presence in accordance with the recommendations given;

editor's printed translation – written translation spread out by mass media and designed for worldwide distribution;

published translation – practical translation or translation for educational purposes spread out by mass media;

translation for educational purposes – translation used in translators' training education or as one of second language teaching techniques;

experimental translation – translation performed with its further publication;

etalon translation – the translation sample used for the estimation of other translations performed.

9) Translations distinguished according to the primacy\ non-primacy of the source text:

direct (primary) translation - translation performed on the basis of the original source text;

indirect (secondary) translation - translation performed not from the original source text but from its translation into another language;

reverse translation - experimental translation or translation for educational purposes of the already translated text back into the source text.

10) Translations distinguished according to the type of adequacy:

semantic-stylistically adequate translation- semantically full, exact and stylistically equivalent translation performed in compliance with the functional and stylistic language standards;

pragmatically (functionally) adequate translation- translation which correctly conveys the main (dominant) communicative function of the source text;

Desired adequate translation - translation which fully and correctly meets the customer's demands but doesn't necessarily convey the full semantic content and the main communicative function of the source text.

Адаптивное транскодирование - это вид языкового посредничества, при котором происходит не только транскодирование (перенос) информации с одного языка на другой (что имеет место и при переводе), но и ее преобразование (адаптация) с целью изложить ее в иной форме, определяемой не организацией этой информации в оригинале, а особой задачей межъязыковой коммуникации. Специфика адаптивного транскодирования определяется ориентацией языкового посредничества на конкретную группу Рецепторов перевода или на заданную форму преобразования информации, содержащейся в оригинале.

Таким образом, адаптивное транскодирование, подобно переводу, представляет собой особую репрезентацию содержания оригинала на ПЯ, но в отличие от перевода создаваемый текст не предназначен для полноценной замены оригинала.

Перевод является основным видом языкового посредничества. Коммуникативная равноценность текстов оригинала и перевода предполагает высокую степень подобия соотнесенных единиц этих текстов. Возможность достижения такого подобия зависит от соотношения систем и правил функционирования ИЯ и ПЯ. Поэтому перевод в большей мере, чем другие виды языкового посредничества, определяется лингвистическими факторами. Адаптивное транскодирование иноязычного оригинала носит парапереводческий характер и может быть представлено как объединение двух последовательных преобразований: перевод и заданная адаптация текста перевода. Различные виды адаптивного транскодирования в неодинаковой степени обнаруживают отдельные черты сходства с переводом. Всех их объединяет с переводом их коммуникативная вторичность: это всегда та или иная репрезентация оригинала на другом языке.

Адаптивное транскодирование, ориентированное на заданный объем и характер информации, осуществляется путем составления аннотаций, рефератов, резюме и других форм передачи информации, связанных с отбором и перегруппировкой сведений, содержащихся в иноязычном тексте. Для каждой из этих форм задаются примерный объем и правила изложения материала, облегчающие восприятие переданной информации.
