Text 2. International Commercial Terms ("Incoterms")

The basis of delivery is of great importance to calculate the level of a contract price, because the charges for delivery under conditions make sometimes approximately 40-50% of the commodity price. The unification of the basis terms of delivery is written in the document called "Incoterms" which was developed and adopted by the International Chamber of Commerce in 1980. The last reduction was made in 1990.

Incoterms- 1990:

1. EXW - ex -works (ex-factory; ex-mill/mills); Price without any transport.

2. FOR - free on rail (f.o.t. - free on truck): Price includes delivery to the railway and loading on a truck.

3. FAS - free along ship - port named: Price includes delivery to loading point "alongside" ship.

4. FOB - free on board - export port named: Price includes delivery to docks and loading onto a ship.

5. FOB - (used in USA trade) - import port named: Price includes all costs up to arrival in the importing country, but not insurance or unloading.

6. C& F- cost and freight - destination named: Price includes all costs up to the named destination but not insurance.

7. GIF - cost, insurance, freight - destination named: Price includes all costs including insurance, up to named destination.

8. EXS- ex-ship-import port named: Price includes delivery to the named port of destination; the seller is responsible for the goods until the ship arrives.

9. EXQ - ex-dock; ex-quay; franco quay: Price includes all costs, unloading, customs duties, etc.

10. CPT - carriage paid to -: Price includes delivery up to named place of destination.

11. CIP - carriage and insurance paid to: Price includes delivery and insurance up to named place of destination.

12. DDU -delivered duty unpaid: Price includes delivery up to named place of destination without duty paid.

13. DDP -delivered duty paid: Price includes delivery up to named place of destination with duty paid.

The following terms are used for home trade in Great Britain:

- carriage paid home: all transport paid by sender (all means of transportation is paid); carriage forward: transport to be paid by buyer; franco, free delivered: all costs paid by sender; G.O.D.- Goods to be paid for by buyer on delivery.
