Motivation (мотивация)

Nowadays every employer tries to motivate his employees in different ways to make their job more attractive. There can be different motivators, such as company car, free lunch, excellent travel opportunities, flexible hours, long holidays, good colleagues and monetary rewards.

It is becoming more and more common for some companies to cherish their employees like never before, creating the kind of workplace that they never want to leave.

Here are some examples of motivation.

Career Path (Promotion). The employees need to know what opportunities there are for growth.

Useful training and development courses. Such courses give the staff the skills and knowledge they need to do their work effectively.

Good Work Environment. Working conditions are very important: enough space in the office, comfortable desks and chairs, pictures and photos, plants, good office supplies, air-conditioner, modern devices. Such things generally make people feel good about their environment.

Outside Seminars. Outside seminars are a stimulating break. Outside seminars can be a contest prize for one or two people. When they return they conduct a seminar for the rest of the employees. It is a great respect and responsibility.

Recognition/Attention. Employer’s recognition is appreciation for the achievement of employees.

Pizza/Popcorn/Cookie Days. Pizza, popcorn, or cookie days will help break up that everyday routine and help people stay motivated. Because it is a natural tendency for people to get excited in anticipation of something.

Team Spirit. It is necessary to develop a team spirit in a company because it helps to reach goals together. It is important for people to be a part of a group or team.

Social Gatherings. Different holidays, celebrations and events help to develop team spirit and to influence the work environment positively. Halloween costume parties, picnics on July 4th, Memorial Day or Labor Day, and Christmas parties are only some of the ideas that successfully bring people together for an enjoyable time. Some others are: softball games (against other companies or among employees, depending on staff size) or groups going golfing.

Theme Contests. The most successful contests seem to be those which are connected with different themes. Holidays, anniversaries, sports and culture are examples of ideas to base contests on. Sports, without a doubt, provide the largest opportunity for a wide variety of contests.

Casual Dress Day. This will apply more to the Business-to-Business world. For those required to "dress business" every day a casual day becomes a popular desire. The employers can create theme color casual days. Also it is possible to establish pre-vacation casual days for each individual employee to enjoy on the day before his or her vacation.

All in all, it is possible to say that today employers try to stimulate their staff using different ways and ideas and they don’t want to lose their employees. It is good for the staff and for the boss of the company because it influences the work efficiency and the productivity of business.
