Exercise 1. Use the verbs in brackets in the Present Continuous or the Present Perfect Continuous.

1. What are you looking at? - I looking at that picture over there. I have been looking at it for about half an hour and I still can’t understand what it is. 2. What is Mary doing? - She is practicing the piano. She has been playing since 12 o’clock. I think she must have a rest. 3. Here you are at last! I have been looking for you everywhere. 4. Why are you smiling, Robert? - I am watching your kitten. What a playful little thing it is! 5 I see you have been writing letters all the morning. Is it the last letter you are writing? 6. You have been sitting here for a long time. Have you been waiting for somebody? 7. The bathroom is a mess. The children are washing their dog. 8. I have been trying to make up my mind for days. 9. Are You quarreling again, children? 1O. How long have you been studying English? - For three years already. 11. I have been working at my report since Monday. Now I am writing the conclusion. 12. Mary’s mother rest in the garden all day because she is ill. 13. She has been sleeping for ten hours! You must wake her!14. David is repairing the TV set. He has been working at it for an hour or so. 15. Fred is washing his hands. He has been repairing his bicycle. 16. Why are you so red? Have You been running? 17. Why are you all laughing?
