Foreign languages in our life
Modern life is impossible without communication. Nowadays it is very important to know foreign languages. Knowledge of foreign languages helps us to speak to people from other countries and read foreign books in the original. English is one of the most significant languages in business. Some people study foreign languages because they need them for their jobs, others travel abroad or study foreign languages as a hobby.
English is an international language and is one of the most popular and most spoken in the world. We can't deny the importance of English in all spheres of our life. It is the language of science, culture, sport and commerce. If you want to become a good specialist, you need to know English. The native speakers of English live in Great Britain, the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand. English is one of the official languages of the United Nations Organization and other political organizations.
As for me, I study English. Mastering a language is a long process that takes a lot of time and efforts. I read short stories in English and write exercises every day. Sometimes it is difficult for me to learn some words but I work hard to improve my English. I hope I will speak English fluently in future.

Mass Media
Our life is impossible without various sources of information. We get information with the help of mass media. The mass media include the press, radio and television.
Newspapers play a great and very important role in the life of modern people. Newspapers and magazines help us to get information about the events in our country and abroad. We can also read articles about historical events and public figures of the past. Ukrainian newspapers usually contain articles on our economy, industry and agriculture. Some magazines carry information about international events and life of people in different parts of the world. Nowadays there are a lot different newspapers and magazines and we can to give preference to any of them. As for me, I like to read periodicals containing interesting and attractive news, analysis of important questions of our history and future.
Television is also a splendid medium of information. Due to television we are well-informed of all the significant events in the world. We can see famous people and get acquainted with their life and work. Television brings the world into our living-room. It broadens our knowledge about the world we are living in. But television has also some disadvantages. Watching TV has become so popular that some children do not do their homework because of it.
Listening to the radio is very useful too. With the radio we can get interesting information while driving a car or cooking dinner.
In my opinion all the means of information are useful for us and we have to use them as often as possible to be well-informed and educated people.
