TRAVELLING
It is difficult to imagine modern life without travelling. Millions of people all over the world travel about their own country and to foreign lands as well. People travel on business, to visit their friends and relatives, and of course, for pleasure. Travelling is a popular way of spending holidays. If you've decided to go on a trip, different ways of travelling and various means of transport are at your disposal. People choose them according to their liking and financial possibilities.
Travelling by air is the fastest and the most convenient way of travelling. Flying is a thrilling thing in itself and it saves time. But it is the most expensive means too. Travelling by train is slower than by plane but it has its advantages too. Most trains nowadays have very comfortable seats, sleeping carriages and dining cars, which make even the longest journey enjoyable.
Sea voyages are popular today mainly as pleasure trips. But many people are afraid of getting seasick. The most usual way is travelling by bus. It is good when you go on short distances.
As for me, I like travelling by car most of all. You don't need to think about your tickets. You can go slowly or as fast as you wish and stop wherever you like and stay there as long as you want. And, of course, you will see much more of the countryside than you do travelling by plane or even by train. In summer I and my family often go for an outing to the country by our car. We stop near a river, swim, lie in the sun, play volley-ball. The only trouble with a car is when something goes wrong with it and you have to repair it.
I have travelled by train several times, but I have never travelled by plane. If I had such an opportunity I would like to go to Britain by plane. Nowadays it’s easy for people to book their own flights and hotels addressed to a travel agent. I think such a trip would help me to improve my knowledge of English and to learn more about the country, its people and famous sights.
Leisure
Leisure or free time is a period of time spent out of work and domestic activity. It is also the period of recreational time before or after compulsory activities. Leisure time is the time when you can forget about day-to-day stress and stressful activities and relax. These activities can be our hobby. Having hobbies and spending time on recreational activities are positive ways to keep the mind active, body energetic and emotions under control. If you develop a keen interest in many things and do whatever brings you joy and relaxation, you will find life exciting, stimulating and meaningful. There must be several things that you enjoy doing or would like to try either alone or with your friend. Photography, drawing, painting, scuba diving and playing musical instruments are very special activities for leisure. You can decide on making candles, knitting, that might help you pass your leisure time in a pleasant way and create something new you can be proud of. If you are free, read something exciting, encouraging, or anything that will enrich your knowledge. You can go to the cinema, to the park, have a picnic, drive to the beach or do anything else under the sky with your friends. Sometimes you can visit art exhibitions, museums. Watch your favourite television shows or films. They can both entertain and enrich your mind and emotions. Visit a leisure centre. There you can go in for sports, dance, do yoga and aerobics which make you feel happy and keep you fit. Many people play online games as a cure for boredom, but don’t let this pastime dominate in your life. One of the most useful ways of spending one's spare time is having a hobby.
As for me, if only I had enough spare time, I would certainly find a right way of spending it. I meet my friends and we chat and have a lot of fun together. Sometimes we go to the cinema or to the disco. When the weather is good, we just stroll along the streets and talk about different things. I don't feel bored spending the evenings on my own and listening to music or watching TV.
Art.
Our world has become a very visual one – we have art all around us.
Understanding art is understanding our world.
All it requires is an open mind and a big imagination.
Art can’t be explained in words, because its influence on people is very personal.
Art includes visual arts, literary arts and the performing arts, like music, theatre, cinema, among others.
The types of visual art include architecture, animation, collage, comics, design, painting, drawing, graffiti, illustration, installation art, photography, sculpture and so on.
Different works of art have been created to please the eye and to excite the emotions.
Art is a great power as it appeals to the heart of a person.
As for me, I’m fond of …………………………………………………………………………….
So, a human’s life is impossible without art.
And it will last forever because life is short but art is long.
