I study at Samara State Technical University at the department “Automation and Information Technology”. I am in the second course. In three years I shall graduate from the university and become a computer engineer.
Computer industry is developing fast. No business now is possible without computers. This is true about automated manufacturing of products and robotics. Computer control of automated production opens new horizons for the cheap and quality production of goods. Information is generated, transmitted, received and stored electronically in computer networks.
Computer engineering deals with electronic industries. Electronic engineering deals with research, design, integration and application of circuits and devices that are used in transmission and processing information.
Electronic engineers develop communication systems. In designing communication systems engineers rely on various branches of advanced mathematics, such as Fourier analysis, linear systems theory, linear algebra, differential equations and probability theory.
Engineers work on control systems which are used extensively in automated manufacturing and in robotics.
The great developments are made in the field of communication and control. It is replaced by analogue systems with digital systems. Fibre optics is used instead of cables. Digital systems offer greater immunity to electrical noise. Fibre optics is immune to interference.
Computer engineering is rapidly developing nowadays. Electronic engineers work at electronics of computers. They design and develop memory systems, central processing units and peripheral devices. The most prospective industry is designing new computers. Computer science is closely connected with computer engineering. Electronic engineers make computers more intelligent. They develop complicated programs and machine languages of a higher level.
Another trend in computer engineering is micro miniaturization. Engineers work at miniaturization of computers. They fit a great numbers of circuit elements into small chips.
Another trend is increasing a speed of computer operations by using parallel processors and superconducting materials.
