The Dandelion Trust (The Trust-established in 1988) is a small but rapidly growing up Charity. The Trust is often asked to help people and to help save land, woods and buildings. The Trust has come from very small beginnings, but has developed some financial schemes which, given enough support, can enable projects to carry forward.
The DT Wood Land scheme. Over the last six years The Trust has been raising money to save threatened woodlands: Big Heath Field (South Devon, 270 acres) and Fox Grave & Crenver Woods (Cornwall, 75 acres). The payments for these two woodlands have been completed, and we wish to thank all those who helped with this project. If you would like to visit these woods, please, contact Hazelwood house.
Funds are still generally needed as woodland conservation projects continuously arise and rapid response is often crucial.
Arts to the heart of the city. The Spitalfields Arts project is an exciting The Trust project set up to promote the arts, creativity and cultural education. Through supporting professional artists, the Trust hopes to make a major contribution to the economic and cultural re vital isation of the Spitalfields area in East London.
Over 70 studios have been developed within the old units of the original fruit and vegetable market. These are now being used by 100 artists. At the other end of the old market, refurbishment have been taking place of the "jewel" of the Old Market site. This listed building has become "THE SPITZ" Art Club which now consists of a venue space (300 capacity), a Restaurant/Bistro and Bar called "ARTISTS", and an Art Gallery euphemistically called "The Commercial Gallery". This promises to be an important London venue.
Martin Burrows, Project Director, has been very successful in obtaining local support and funding from various sources including Lottery and many other initiatives.
Street Symphony: Ethiopian (street kids) Dance. The trust has recently become involved in this project based in Ethiopia. Over the next two years, a series of dance projects involving homeless and orphaned street children will take place in Addis Ababa, led by choreographer Royston Maldoom. These project will run parallel to many other initiatives designed to give these children a voice within which they can speak to the world. Dance, drama, music, story telling and video-making will lead to the creation of a feature film written and produced by them, guided by professional technicians. The first of the dance projects will take place in may.
Can you help? Founds are urgently needed for the continuous restoration, maintenance and running costs of all these projects. We need help with the substantial administrative costs generated by the co-ordination of such diverse projects.
If you feel you can help, please ring up for further details on any of these projects. We are always delighted to meet with any one for a fuller discussion.
ALL DONATIONS HOWEVER LARGE or SMALL are Warmly Welcomed.
