May - might

1. We use “may / might” to say that something is a possibility now or in the future.

E.g. He may be ill. = He might be ill.

It may not / might not (mightn’t) rain today.

  1. We also use may / might to give and ask for permission.

E.g. You may stay out late today.

He may not go out.

May I come in? (= Can I come in?) – Yes, of course.
