St. Valentine's Day
Цілі:
- ознайомити учнів з традиціями і звичаями святкування Дня Святого Валентина у Великобританії;
- сприяти формуванню в учнів навичок лінгвокраїнознавчої компетенції та самостійної роботи;
- активізувати лексику на тему "St. Valentine's Day", “National Cuisine” та ‘‘People and Relationship’’;
- познайомити з фольклорною та поетичною спадщиною англомовних країн;
- розвивати творчу фантазію, пізнавальний інтерес, ініціативу в здійсненні іншомовної мовленнєвої діяльності;
- виховувати в учнів почуття прекрасного і повагу до культури і традицій інших народів;
- виховувати почуття взаємної відповідальності, прищеплювати навички роботи в колективі.
Обладнання: призи; роздатковий матеріал; презентація з валентинками; відео ‘How to make chocolate cups for St. Valentine’s Day?’.
Тип уроку: інтегрований.
Вид уроку: урок-повторення вивченого матеріалу.

T: Good morning, dear students! Glad to see you! How is your mood today?
S1: Fine, thank you. And how is your mood?
T: What day is it today?
S2: Today is _________.
T: What date is it today?
S3: Today is the _________ of February.
T: What day was yesterday?
S4: It was ________ yesterday.
T: What season is it now?
S5: It is winter now.
T: What do people usually wear in winter?
S6: People usually wear coats or fur-coats, hats, scarves, hats, gloves, warm boots and sweaters.
T: Do you like holidays?
S: Yes, of course.
T: And I like them, too. What holidays do you know?
S: The New Year, Christmas, Easter, the Victory Day, the Independence Day and many others.
T: Thank you. You are right. There are many holidays in Ukraine. Sometimes it seems like too many.
So we start our lesson, the topic of which is connected with a beautiful holiday, one of the most popular in Great Britain. Please, look through the presentation and guess what holiday we are going to discuss.

S: Yes. It is St. Valentine’s Day.
T: You are absolutely right! We are going to discuss St. Valentines Day at the lesson. We are going to learn some more facts from the history of this wonderful holiday and the way it is celebrated in Great Britain and the USA.
Who can tell me something about St. Valentine’s Day? What do you know about this holiday?
S 7: On the 14th of February people celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. This holiday is the favourite holiday of all English children and adults. People usually send St. Valentine cards to each other, say each other words of love, men give women such gifts as candies and flowers.
T: Do you celebrate St. Valentine’s Day?
S: Yes, we do.
