Gerund
Compare I’m sleeping I love sleeping.
What’s the difference? Translate the sentences.
These words are like twins, they look the same, but are different. The first one is part of the verb in Pr.Cont, the other one is gerund.
It’s a verb + ing (Ving). What’s the difference? They look like verbs, but are actually nouns.

Structure The gerund can be: 1. Active Ving # I am proud of inviting people over. 2. Passive being V3 # I am proud of being invited to a party. The negative form is not+Ving # I am proud of not inviting them # I am proud of not being invited Special Features NB: We don’t use Passive Gerund after the verbs: need, deserve, require, be worth # The room needs painting. -ed / –ing adjectives
He is boring.
Is it the gerund? No. Verb? No. It’s an adjective (прилагательное)
the -ed adjective is used for the person who has the feeling. In other words, a boring person makes us feel bored.
the - ing adjective is used for a thing (or person) that causes the feeling.
Read and choose:
l. I failed my first test - I was really disappointed/disappointing.
2. It's so embarrassed/embarrassing to admit I can't do smth that all my friends are able to do.
3. I hate not being able to communicate - it's so frustrated/frustrating.
