PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS PRESENT PERFECT
· an activity at some non-specific time in the past with a result in the present or future
(an action over a period of time): We have been working on the new project. - … работаем (an action at a point of time): We have just completed our work on this project. - … завершили
· the continuity and duration of the activity I’ ve been reading your report. I’m rather tired. - … читал · finished actions that have a result in the present I’ ve read your report. It’s rather detailed. - … прочитал...

· The PRESENT PERFECT emphases the idea of completion (=the homework is finished); we use the PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS to indicate that the action has lasted for a period and is incomplete. Compare:

I’ ve read the newspaper today. (= I’ve finished it)

I’ ve been reading the Encyclopaedia Britannica. (= I haven’t finished it yet)

· Time expressions used with the present perfect simple include: for, since, already, just, always, ever, how long, yet, lately, never, so far, today, this morning/afternoon, week, month, year, etc.
Affirmative
ü for e.g. I have known them for six years.
ü since e.g. She has been ill since Monday.

ü yet e.g. Has Paul left yet?

ü for e.g. I haven’t talked to him for days.
  ü since e.g. They haven’t been abroad since 1990.
ü yet e.g. She hasn’t answered my letter yet.
  ü lately e.g. I haven’t seen john lately.
ü never e.g. They have never worked abroad.

· We often use the PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS with for and since:

We have been expecting an upturn since the beginning of the last year.

I’ ve been waiting for a whole hour!

· We use since to indicate a starting-point:

They haven’t met since the wedding. (= since + noun phrase)

· We can use It’s a long time, two weeks, etc. + since + PAST SIMPLE to focus on the period:

It’s ages since I saw Eva.

· We use for to say how long something lasts:

I’m tired. We’ve been walking for four hours.

I haven’t seen Eva for ages.
