Tasks of volunteer:
??? will play a leading role in supporting and completing the hosting organisation activity. She will actively and creatively contribute to:
- help elaborating, planning and carrying out projects based on assisting people in their learning programmes;
- sensitise and promote topics concerning human rights, social housing culture, environment and sustainable development – at every level, supporting the organisation of local awareness raising events and initiatives, if required;
- help the training activities organized by the cooperative;
- support the management of “no-working” activities, i.e. the free-time within individual projects, etc.;
- act as “ferrymen” between the adults and the youth worlds, as well as between the Cooperative and the youth;
- strength the links with the wider social environment.
She will not be made responsible of whole work areas/projects on her own; she will be always coached and put in the condition to discuss what she thinks of the activities and projects; responsibilities will be always shared with other members of the staff.
??? can be involved in the following main areas:
- Sensitisation, educational and training sessions with schools and with Insieme target groups involved in educational paths of work.
- Animation in the bar and in the kitchen.
In addition to these two main areas, the Cooperative is often involved in the organisation of events linked to the issues promoted (environment, recycle, sustainable development, critical consumption, de-growth, etc.). When such events are going to take place, volunteers will be asked to support the organisational phase and even to attend the event itself. In these cases, that are not possible to be anticipated yet, it will be agreed with ??? the commitment she would like to take, deducting the hours she will spend for this issue from the standard week timetable
Working hours and days off: 6/7 hours per day (30 hours of service per week, excluding mentoring meetings), 5 days per week, two consecutive days off per week and 2 days holiday per month for the duration of the project.
Food and Accommodation:??? will live in an apartment with other EVS volunteers or other youth – shared bedroom with shared cooking, washing, laundry and social facilities. If needed, a different solution will be provided, after discussing it with the volunteer and the sending organisation. In average, the Hosting Organisation will offer one meal per working day; for the remaining ones a monthly food allowance is provided (€150).
Local Transport: The volunteer will be provided a bike and/or the possibility to use the public transports. The best solution will be arranged with her, in order to meet her needs.
Volunteer Allowance: The volunteer will receive a monthly allowance of €115, as foreseen by the YIA Programme Guide.
Interpersonal and social competences / Expected learning outcomes:
Summing up, thanks to VOLUNTEERS@WORK.IT Project, ??? will acquire skills concerning the following aspects:
- learning a foreign language, and communicating in a new country framework;
- acquiring sensitiveness to social facts and to vulnerable people’s needs;
- being an active citizen, actually involved in the everyday life foreign society, improving her own sense of European Citizenship;
- promoting a lifestyle based on solidarity, which could help her in making choices and increase the value of life day after day, even after the end of the EVS project;
- being able to work in a team;
- being able to self manage her time;
- being qualified as a tutor for people with social inclusion difficulties;
- being trained in social and environmental issues;
- working in the local area network;
- good participation and “self-taking initiative” skills;
- acquiring intecultural awareness, opnening and widening her mindset.
Other training/experiences are foreseen - according to volunteers’ interests and to the on-going activities carried out by Insieme in that specific period - concerning issues as underage people rights, mutuality, social solidarity, equal distributions of profits, not-exploitation-based work, shared self-management, social inclusion of disadvantaged people, third sector, networking, environment, recycle, sustainable development, critical consumption, de-growth, social inclusion of disadvantage people, third sector, project planning and implementation, equality, volunteering, etc.… Such initiatives can take place both during the periodical internal training of the staff, as well as thanks to other external initiatives (seminars, workshops, meetings…).
