People always wanted to express themselves. It is natural when we want to be better, stronger and smarter. People do different activities and when they become professionals, when they do anything much better than others we can call it Arts. Artists are always creative people. They create masterpieces in dancing, music, literature, painting etc. Arts always attract people’s attention because any masterpiece is something close to ideal and we always want to be better. Speaking about arts we mean: music, theatre, cinema, painting, literature, ballet, architecture etc.
Nowadays theatre is not so popular as it was before. But still there are many theatres in big cities. And people visit them rather often. There are different kinds of theatres, such as drama, ballet, musical comedy etc. I’ll never forget my first visit to the opera. From the very first minute I was deeply impressed by everything I saw on the stage. When the curtain fell at the end of the performance there came a storm of applause. The performance was a great success. I think it is one of the greatest arts. But nowadays most of young people prefer going to the cinema. The movies are truly an art of our time. Most of people can’t just imagine their life without the art of cinema. There are cinemas in every town even some villages. But many people prefer staying at home and watching TV or DVD. But still cinema is one of the most popular arts nowadays.
I like painting and I think I understand it. There are a lot of styles in painting. Such as: impressionism, classicism, romantism and others. There are many exhibitions and art galleries. So painting is rather popular nowadays too.
Music is an essential part of everyone’s life. People can’t live without music. Music is everywhere. We listen to it at home, at work, in the car, when we are walking across the street.
Sometimes we feel ourselves as if we want to sing. And this is called the music of our soul. I think music is the oldest art in the world. And nowadays there are a lot of styles of music. Many people like classical music. It is really great. But most of young people prefer modern music. There are many kinds of modern music. It is often broadcasted on TV and radio. Modern music has different trends: pop, rock, rap, disco, techno and many others. I don’t listen to only one or two styles of music. It depends on my mood.
The last achievement in music production is a clip. Musical clips are short films accompanied by the song. People like to watch clips because it’s not only listening to music but also watching interesting things. I’m found of music and like to listen to it for it helps me to have a good relaxation.
Climate. Seasons.
The climate of the country depends on its geographical location. Many things influence the climate: the seas, the rivers, the mountains, the oceans. Even people influence the climate. I mean the global warming that people caused. It started more than 100 years ago, even before when people started to burn oil, natural gas and coal. It caused the water, air and land pollution as well as ozone holes and nowadays the climate becomes warmer and warmer and in some 20 or 50 years it may cause more problems for human civilization.
So, the climate of any country depends on its geographical position. We can see it if we compare the climate in different countries: say Ukraine, the UK or the USA. The climate of Ukraine is moderate on the most territories. But if we compare the climate in Zakarpattya and in Ivano-Frankivsk regions (they are neighbors) we will see that it is much warmer in Zakarpattya region. People grow grapes and tomatoes there. The spring comes earlier to Zakarpattya region. It is so, because of the Carpathians. They stop cold north winds, so they greatly influence the climate there.
The climate of the UK is moderate, damp and mild. But it differs from the climate in Western Europe. Here is another reason why it is so. The Atlantic Ocean influences it. Truly saying even not the Atlantic Ocean but the warm waters of Golf Stream that wash the western coasts of the British Isles. So it often rains on the British Isles and the winter is mostly mild.
The climate in the USA is different in different parts of the country. It varies from polar in Alaska to subtropical and tropical in California and Florida. There are a lot of mountains and rivers in the USA. It is washed by 3 oceans that influence the climate. To the west of the Mississippi it is drier and more continental than to the east of it. The winters are colder and there are less rains in summer.
We often speak about seasons and weather. It is really a topic to start conversation. So, when we don’t know what to speak about – we speak about the weather. We can find a lot of information about the wheather in internet, in a newspaper or we can see it on TV.
In Ukraine as in most of countries of the world there are four seasons. Every season has three months.
Spring is a very beautiful season. In spring the nature wakes up. The water in the rivers isn’t frozen any more. Temperatures grow progressively warmer day by day. Days become longer and nights become shorter. New leaves on the trees appear in April. And it is quite warm all over Ukraine.
Summer is the hottest season of the year. In summer pupils don’t go to school. And most of people take their holidays. During this season you can bathe in a river or in a sea. You can go to a forest and gather mushrooms. In Ukraine summer is rather hot and dry.
In autumn the wheather becomes lower day by day. But there are a lot of fruit and vegetables in autumn. It is a wonderful time when the air is transparent and trees stand red, brown, golden and yellow against the beautiful cloudless sky. This time is called Indian summer. But after that birds fly away, leaves fall, the weather tends to be unsettled and rainy.
Winter in Ukraine is rather beautiful too. There is much snow on the ground. And it is a great season for winter sports. There are a lot of holidays in winter. But sometimes the temperature is above zero and it is raining.
