We can see climate changes a little from year to year. It is becoming warmer. These changes can be dangerous for our planet. Many people say that it is so because of the greenhouse effect. Sunlight gives us heat. Some of the heat warms the atmosphere, and some of the heat goes back into space. But carbon dioxide doesn't let much heat get out. So the atmosphere becomes warmer.
Where does the carbon dioxide come from? People and animals breathe in oxygen, and breathe out carbon dioxide. We produce carbon dioxide when we burn things. Trees take this gas from the air, and produce oxygen. But in the last few years, people have cut down and burnt big areas of rainforest. This means there are fewer trees, and, of course, more carbon dioxide!
Ecological problems
Our planet is in danger. The rainforests are dying, rare plants and animals are disappearing, the air, rivers and seas are being polluted.
The destruction of rainforests changes the climate and cause air pollution. Animals lose their habitats.
Cars and factories also damage the atmosphere. If we don’t do anything now, our cities will become impossible to live in.
Another big problem is water pollution. Factories pollute rivers and lakes with dangerous chemicals. Swimming in the sea or drinking a cool glass of water on a hot day may soon become a thing of the past.
The question of the rational use of natural resources is also very important. They are not endless. We should think about alternative sources of energy.
Choosing a career
Choosing the right career is a very important decision we make in our life. For that reason you should do a lot of thinking about who you are, about the things you like to do and the things you can do well. You should be realistic about your interests and abilities. Sometimes your hobbies can lead you into the right sort of job. I can’t imagine my life without sport and I’m going to connect my life with sport. I’m sure a job should bring not only money, but satisfaction as well.
School
My school is a building of a typical design with classrooms, administrative offices, a dining room, gyms, a library as you can see in most other schools. I’m happy to study here. School gives us good education though I can’t say I’m a very good student. I’m often lazy and neglect my study. We usually have 6 lessons a day. We have many subjects on our timetable, but my favourite has always been PE. I never miss it.
School is also a place where we make friendship, learn to value moral qualities in people and develop our talents and skills. The atmosphere in our school is friendly.
